After seeing incidents like this, I just don't know how gate crew members either aren't mandated to wear helmets or choose not to, just absurd. California does mandate it.

I was thinking the same thing. The very rare opportunity where a lower level jock sits on a very live horse for a hot barn and the race gets cancelled.

That was crazy!! It looked like an old western movie when they have the horse dragging the guy through the dirt.... & at what point does he decide to let go??? He is so lucky the inside horses didn't trample him and held up...
