doc in the 80's early 90's sure, very knowledgeable. Today, you just keep hearing him talk about the old days, peoples fathers and tiger williams....... and when the fans are lucky enough to get a break from his nails on a chalkboard voice, it's filled with what i expect to be ANYTHING better, i'm given Pierre McGuire's "everything that is JR hockey" opinion, which makes me want to jump out of my 2nd story window, climb up to my nearest CTA red line and ask the next train that passith by my window to strike me down. i would rather watch games on FOX with no sound and the laser beam puck tracker in standard def....then listen to doc emrick http://gahdengremlins.com/post/11100...-drinking-game -bt- |

Who pray-tell would you rather broadcast the games? Gary Thorne? The absolute, hands down worst play by play man EVER? The NHL leaving Espn was the best thing that could have happened to the league for that reason alone. |

it's a new day and age, and NBC sports needs a new voice to carry them into what hockey is becoming (like it or not). I think Jim Hughson out on Vancouver does a great job, and a few others around the league I like. anyone but the biggest homer announcers ever.... which is awarded to Staggy and Errey, close 2nd going to Jack Edwards in Boston whom i loathe -bt- |

maybe it is a cap fan thing....i know when people talked up summerall after his passing, i was thinking 'he was great, really?' because he always seemed biased against the skins... all i know is i don't care for him, but then again, there are very few announcers that i do enjoy listening to. most seem to think they're talking to complete morons who know nothing about the game... and bt, you're right...joe b is great, locker---ugh. |

4 goals in a period just shows you how little the emphasis is on D for the Pens. Every interview is about more offense when they need to stop Boston from scoring if they have any chance......
