People line up daily at Pat's and Geno's... Does that mean they have the best steaks in Philadelphia?

Oaklawn can be pretty cold and miserable at the beginning of the season too. I think it was year before last that they closed the track on President's Day after about the 3rd race because the track was frozen. Not unusual at all to have snow or worse an ice storm around opening day. End of the season, just the opposite. Everything green, azaleas blooming, trees in the infield blooming (apple blossoms?). Definitely recommend visiting later in the race meet.

If they all had dirt surfaces, it would be a no brainer--Keeneland, by far, with Del Mar second. But I hate those frigging surfaces.
Santa Anita is very nice, so long as it is not 99 degrees and choked with smoke like BC 2003. Oaklawn is nice as well, not up with the other 3 IMO. The U of K girls at Keeneland--very nice if you are a dirty old man. |

If you like to see, meet, and greet some HOT,smokin' hot women, both on and off the track, Del Mar is your place. Plenty of eye candy everywhere. Keeneland is a must also, especially on college day. I would recommend Keeneland in the fall over spring,as the wind and the temp are sometimes brutal.

What is the consensus -- while we're at it.
Who has the best steaks in Philly? Who has the best bagels in NYC? I will be making one more brief cameo in each of these fine cities before years end. |

I know of at least three places that Jim's can't even compare to. Steve's Prince of Steaks in the northeast, John's Roast Pork in South Philly and Dellasandro's in Manayunk. I know it's a matter of opinion, but these steaks are head and shoulders better than Jim's, which is in itself a far better steak tha Tony Lukes imo. |

John's takes the cake for me. Correct on the fries, although i go cheese on side bc they dont travel well with cheese on, despite the <5 min drive. Looking for great wings? Cafe Soho on Cheltenham Ave is THE place, with El Camino Real in NoLibs taking the place spot! Too good. |

In Manhattan, Esa Bagel on 1st Avenue and E. 21st street is hands down the best bagel in New York IMO.

Damn, Steve, you have the spelling right for Ess-a-Bagel, that is the Italian in me that f***** that up. Great bagel though and worth waiting on what seems like about a 20 minute line all day long.

Ya'll got no culture. Head to southwest Virginia and you can debate which county fair has the best Corndogs and Fried Oreos.
