i was simply amazed, and appalled, that they upheld that ruling on review. bad enough the initial mistake was made by one ref-but to let it stand? inconceivable!

Are the replay officials replacement too?

nope.

which makes the call that much worse. if they are supposed to know better, since they're the 'real' folks, than what's their excuse?

the replacements refs are bad-but the regular refs come up with some doozies too.

This to me this is the much bigger story. The replacement officials are nothing more than scabs who are doing there best. Obviously they are in WAY over their heads. The fact that an regular NFL official/employee didn't overturn the call from the booth, magnifies the whole incident by 1000. That's the guy who should be terminated on the spot this morning.

By rule, he can't.

Simultaneous possession can't be challenged or overturned by review.

The replacement guys, in a lot of instances this week, have shown that they don't know all of the rules.

That's excellent, so not only did they botch the call, the botched call that they made turned it into something that couldn't be challenged or overturned.
Just stellar, you can't make this stuff up.

I actually think this could push the two sides further apart. The league is under tremendous pressure to come to an agreement with the refs this morning but at the same time, the refs are now negotiating from a tremendous position of strength. They have no reason to give in and instead can just sit back and let public opinion continue to build against the league.

Let's not forget the calls that kept the Seahawks' final drive going, first the bogus roughing the passer that called back a Packer interception, and later the defensive pass interference that should have been ruled offensive pass interference. On the flip side, there were questionable calls favoring the Packers on their TD drive, too. The officiating in this game reached an all-time NFL low.
