I am close to some Muslims who wager on races, love putting up money on fantasy football and can drink with the best of them. In America I think Islam, as practiced by the average person, is as it is in Christianity. Which I think, also frowns on gambling, and weren't the temperance advocates of the 19th Century Christian? Can't beat vice-- it's just too much fun. So while I imagine the pix six winner could be Arab in origin (or Irish or Japanese, or anything else), they likely would not be a devout Muslim. (Whether they claim to be is not my business. ) |

Also the reason that for the races at Dubai, in the form they do not have odds listed next to them for the race since there is no wagering at the track.

There is no OFFICIAL betting in Dubai for the World Cup, just like there was no official betting at the brush tracks in Texas in years past. What people get up to on their own, between friends (supposedly), is something the track management has no control over, or cares to look into carefully.

I know one the the P6 winners, he's not an Arab.
If you are implying that the Maktoums "fixed" the races, no way. |
