Current Derby odds...

Barney 18
Carrick 14
Colorado Sun 100
Dusty Miller 500
Hope So 100
Jeroboam 51
Joy's Choice 51
Lieutenant Lincoln 200
Mr Chez 21
Nine Pin 31
Ocean Park 3.80
Red Shift 31
Roamin 51
Rock 'n' Pop 5
Sacred Warrior 81
Shuka 9
Travolta 21
Viking Ace 81
Zurella 7
Silent Achiever 3.50f

Maybe a few names you aren't that familiar with here. I'll try to change that between now and then!

But it does seem like the top group of four or five are a long way ahead of the others. Red Shift is the only one at longer odds that I think has any upset chance.

I hope you have the time to... I look forward to it every time around.

No Moroney runners in the Derby. His best 3yo this season is a filly called Chicarita (won the G2 Royal Stakes). It looks like she's being set for the Oaks on March 17.

I haven't heard anything about Xcellent for a long time! But I think he's still enjoying a happy retirement at a luxurious property somewhere in Cambridge.

Although this thread is mostly about celebrating NZ's great racing, I guess I have to mention the bad as well as the good.

Absolutely disgusting. I hope they catch whoever did this.

I'm speechless. Absolutely horrific. I hope they hire round the clock guards and catch this sick ****.

Beyond words.

On a brighter note, Pinzaara's running tomorrow!

1 80X69 Call Me Capo 3 45 58.5 Matthew Cameron Donna & Dean Logan, Ruakaka
2 4 Sound Barrier 5 50 58.0 Michael McNab (a2) Shaune Ritchie, Cambridge
3 Cartell 6 47 58.0 Alysha Collett (a1) Richard Collett, Pukekohe Park
4 39623 La Pinnicle 4 54 56.5 Rory Hutchings (a2) Peter Lock, Te Rapa
5 4005X Sunsett 7 49 56.5 Danielle Johnson Stephen McKee, Ardmore
6 5 Miss Quasar 9 47 56.5 Tasha Collett Natalie Tanner, Avondale
7 59226 One Hipp Chick 10 53 56.0 Maija Vance (a1) Shaune Ritchie, Cambridge
8 255 Quin Bay 2 52 56.0 Leith Innes Stephen McKee, Ardmore
9 8X54 Fortunate 8 50 56.0 Stephen McKee, Ardmore
10 77646 Pinzaara 1 49 56.0 Sam Spratt Stephen McKee, Ardmore

Sam Spratt had the choice of all the McKee horses in the field, and she chose our girl!

I won't be able to make it to the track, sadly, because I'll be at work. But I'll make sure I find a TV!

If Pinzaara doesn't win, I hope Sunsett does - she's Sunline's last baby.

I loved that mare! I had no idea this was her baby. Is she a good filly?

The Matamata Breeders' Stakes, a G2 2yo fillies race won by Anabandana and Banchee in the last two years, was won quite nicely today by a Holy Roman Emperor filly called Rollout The Carpet. She looked pretty good.

The big Otaki G1 is only 10 mins away now.

But Mufhasa's performance in Melbourne is the highlight of the day so far!
