happy thanksgiving. going to scarf down a quick, abbreviated turkey dinner, and then heading to baton rouge for the big day tomorrow. geaux tigers! and if they should lose, and i hope they win, roll tide!

since i won't be around tomorrow, let me wish everyone an early happy evacuation day...and no, that's not to celebrate the after affects of today's gorging.

Before I head on out to Presque Isle Downs for a day of eating, drinking, football, and gambling... I'm thinking of going out and spending some time with the homeless.

Mind you, I won't be donating a dollar of my betting bankroll or any grub or drink to them, just spending an hour or two with them.

I don't think the homeless are as worried about getting a hot meal as they are about getting some good old fashioned companionship. I'd roll up to one of the bridges that a few homeless have declared as their own. Kind of like underachieving Lewis and Clark type folks.

Anyway, I'd set up my fold-out chair with the footrest and cup holders. They'll probably be very impressed with how such a fabulous piece of furniture folds up and fits into an easy to carry pouch with a shoulder sling.

Then I'd flip open the cooler and grab an ice cold Yuengling. For the next hour or two I;d slam beers and tell them about the football games and races that will be on later today, and even though they won't be interested, offer them some full card selections on todays racing action at AQU and Churchill Downs... as well as a pace figure breakdown of the Thanksgiving Day Handicap at FG.

It would be a great feeling to leave all cooly buzzed and knowing that I just gave back to the community and in my opinion, that's what the holidays really should be all about.
