well thats nice to read that hes doing ok and going to be fine. A 4.5 million dollar trail horse..heh heh. I am happy he didnt have to suffer the indignity of falling into cheap claiming ranks.

I remember Baffert had a horse named Work for James McIngvale, i believe he was a 950k purchase. Apparently before he had his first race he was already running and training like something special, Baffert went as far to say that this was his Derby horse and one of his most talented, Work was even given a nickname that I am forgetting right now. Before you know it something wrong happened and he never panned out, last I remember of him he was running in a cheap claimer at Mountaineer.

Then, of course, there was Snaafi Dancer. Sheik Mohammed bought him for $10.6 million (the first yearling to sell for more than $10 million and, at that time, the most ever paid for a thoroughbred at auction). Never got to the track, and when they tried to breed him, proved to be infertile. To be fair, I think the sheik wanted him primarily for his bloodlines.

to think out of all those multi million dollar horses only one has produced a KY Derby winner in Fu Peg. The only other million dollar horse to win a Triple Crown race would be Rags to Riches. Jazil won the Belmont but I think he was a like a 700k plus purchase. Other than that Empire Maker and Bernardini were the only other blue bloods I can think of to win TC races

I don't think either of these are true. Off the top of my head AP Indy fetched a couple of million as a yearling and he was about as blue blood as it gets. Depending on what your definintion of what a "blue blood" is, there have been plenty to win TC races.

Haha, Work. At some point he was in the list of "favorites" for the 2004? Derby just based on Baffert being impressed with him. Menifee colt. His first start he finished wayyyyyyyyy up the track. He was a 950,000 sales 2YO and was the main "item of interest" in the original sales kickback discussions where the agents were getting %s of the sales price...

it was also around the time a bit after that Mattress Mac pulled horses from Baffert and stopped spending money in the game. But remember that he did have an injury that set him back before he ran his first race, so thats the only reason I can think of as to why he didnt deliver on the talent he had shown.
