I thought Polytrack prevented this?

Poly seemed to reduce the number of serious, life-threatening injuries at TP last winter. The chip probably always had been there and just migrated a bit to get into a more problematic position. She may not be able to race again on the same level, but her life is not in danger, which is the point of polytrack.

Yeah u want to cut down on the Turfway breakdowns? Then have some decent horse flesh show up with some respectfull trainers and owners who don't run their stock into submission then they'll last a whole lot longer. 5K claimers already running with problems. I know we'll run them 20 to 30 times a year and run them into shape.

The general public simply has no idea how many horses are being catastophically injured on poly. Turfway, didnt give an accurate number. However, Woodbine has had 3 horses breakdown fatally over their new surface during training hours. These tracks arent going to give accurate figures, it would make them look foolish.

If a horse cannot get over a good conventional dirt surface soundly, they shouldnt be running, period. The breeding is what needs to change, not the racing surfaces.

Bid,i doubt your excuses for poorly maintained surfaces will fly any more. the breeding will not change until the market demands that. insofar as Woodbine, you'll need to prove 3 horses have broken down due to poly.

Sumitas, how do you prove a horse broke down due to poly just like how do you prove a horse broke down due to dirt, or broke down due to turf?

2 horses in the first week of Woodbines new surface, and this last one Oracle noted. I believe one was a 2 year old, one was an older claimer. The two I noted were both catastrophic. Drf had an article on both Woodbine horses. Regards

Sumitas, you must know a lot more than I do. A good conventional dirt surface is will limit breakdowns. Despite what you may think, not all dirt surfaces are the same boss.

It has nothing to do with marketing. The trainers love it. Horses stay much sounder on it. I've talked to numerous trainers. They all say the same thing.
