Now this is a REAL champion mare - she runs where the competition is, not just the race closest to home. She may have not been good enough to beat Zarkava at 3, but which of the two is becoming a legend? A note to the Mosses might be in order.

She finished 2nd today to Makfi? Never heard of him...
Hannon on Paco Boy after checking in 3rd; "He could be retired, he could go to America or the Foret - it's up to the owners." |

Saw the replay of the race, Goldikova didn't look to be travelling as good as she usually does early on and probably made the lead too soon, Soumillon on Makfi just sat behind her under cover, got last run and ran on better today. Goldikova for her part was game in defeat, Paco Boy loomed dangerously but died in his run to narrowly miss 2nd. No other horse was close to the top 3.

No shame in that for Goldikova, who wouldn't have been entirely suited by the ground. Makfi very impressively won the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket in May (beating Canford Cliffs). It's good to see him back in that form.
Actually, the only time Makfi has been beaten in his 5-start career was when he reportedly had a throat infection and finished seventh behind Canford Cliffs at Ascot. |

Part 3 coming up in Paco v Goldi
have to say the ground is providing the real question mark here. If anyone fancies Goldi or indeed Paco, you will be getting a fantastic price on them. Ill be taking them on with Joanna - I think she'll shock them

Wow Paco Boy is 11-1 in the US. Maybe he's the play.
