Mountaineer AKA Waterford Park ... nuff said. For those of you who are to young to remember or didnt know, Waterford Park was the killing fields of horse racing. As a kid I cant count how many times I saw the dead horses lying behind the recieving barn from that nights racing and the old drunk guys pulling the shoes off of them to recycle. Nothing suprises me there , they may have a new name and better purses but I cant imagine the mentality has changed much.

Tracks really need to get their acts together:
Wake at Noon was a good fifth in the 2000 Queen’s Plate, won by Scatter the Gold, and has competed in the Breeders’ Cup but had not raced since November 2007. According to Woodbine rules, any horse older than 10 that has not won in the last year isn’t eligible to race at the track.
....the investigation would include trying to determine how a horse that was ineligible to race at Woodbine got past security and onto track property. An ineligible horse isn’t granted a stall, even if it’s just for a few hours for a workout.
