rachel won her race faster than blame.
zenyatta on the other hand ran slower than rail trip.

now, props to her consistency for going 17-0. but consistency and greatness aren't interchangeable words. one of congaree's best races, the one in which everyone's respect for him grew, was his nose loss to milwaukee brew in the big 'cap.

I thought you were better than this, my toy is bigger than yours...Your handicapping method here is so simplistic it's silly, where did you get this from a 4 yr child?

If you watched the Californian and thought afterwards that Zenyatta is ready to take on Rail Trip in the HOL Gold Cup then you need to get a prescription for new goggles. Hell, her own trainer isn't even willing to take him on and I don't blame them, he's back in form and loves that track.

Well, in all fairness, the trainer of Rail Trip didn't exactly sound jazzed up to take on Zenyatta post-race yesterday either.

He was probably trying to avoid an argument with the gleeful Zenyatta backers.

I don't want to rain on the Zenyatta fan parade because I know she's a terrific horse who has done some very nice things. But, the hyperbole going around about yesterday's win is just idiotic. It was not a particularly strong race and ultimately presented one of the best setups she's ever had (with the BC Classic right up there as well). It should make anyone who thinks she is a legitimate contender to beat males in a race like the BC Classic understand that she's not there yet. At all.

Don't dare me to do anything. I have no reputation and a fan base that consists of RockHardTen1985 and sometimes GBBob if I'm nice to him.

She's has won this. You folks are so biased against her that you've stricken this from your brains. She's shown zero signs of not liking the dirt. Her trainer uses the dirt track at HWD PARK. This trainer prefers to run on dirt. The only way she'd not be a legit contender in this year's BC Classic is if it was being run on the Poly at Del Mar. I can see her getting beat at 9f or shorter, but at 10f, you're nuts to say she isn't a legit contender. Her and Blame are 10f horses.

I've seen your comments about St. Trinians and they are no surprise, funny that only works one way when your horse is discussed. When it comes to anything to do with Zenyatta barring her beating Quality Road while carrying 129 and running a 115-ish beyer, you guys just may concede she is not just the luckiest horse on earth.

BTW How much weight did the Rail Trip carry in the Californian..let me help you 118, how much weight did Zenyatta carry in the Vanity 129, I'll do the math for you guys also, that is 11lbs + more, do you want to add on a sex for age allowance also? I think she did just fine.

There's no point in me discussing anything about this with you. You'll grasp at straws, like weight, when all else fails. However, don't insult other people's handicapping methods, especially when they're dealing with fundamentals of handicapping like final times. Unless you feel obligated to thump your chest some more about the 2 winners you posted last year.

Ditto Nick. When it comes to Zenyatta your bias really shows. That's fine, I as a fan of racing enjoyed yesterday's race immensely, it's too bad others can't.

He was likely best that day, and was one of the most talented horses we have had in a long time. I love Z, Im thinking I like her as much as you, but Bernardini would have DESTROYED HER.

That's the theme here, when trying to discuss who Zenyatta can beat...Blame, Quality Road, Bernadini, Personal Ensign and even Secretariat are all mentioned. When the talk turns to Rachel names like Bullsbay, Zardana, Unrivaled Belle and let's not forget Distinctive Dixie come up. I would say that is just about hitting the nail square on. I love it!

As opposed to "she's never lost so that totally means she's the bestest!!!!"?

oh, and it wasn't my 'handicapping method'. i know some pointed out that rachel ran her 9 faster than blame, so it seemed obvious that this time would come up as well, zens vs rail trip. may be a bit simplistic, but it's also a measurable fact.

oh, and by the way:

HOL-Californian S (G2): Rail Trip 108 (R. Ellis/R. Bejarano)

HOL_Vanity H (G1): Zenyatta 103 (J. Shirreffs/M. Smith)

but i'm sure that's being simplistic as well....

All the figs say are they are in the same ballpark, on synth you have to view them with a much broader view. Zenyatta ran a 12.03 final 8th, where Rail Trip ran 12.87 carrying 11lbs less. On synth these are when races are usually won.

Regardless, I agree with Mike Smith's comments after the race, she may have needed this race and believe it or not she may move fwd from this race, in addition Moss was quoted as saying Delmar was not written in stone via Hovday. We will see.
