that is such a shame. he fought for so long, you hate to see it end this way. what an awful disease, laminitis has claimed too many. everyone references barbaro these days, but secretariat succumbed to it as well. toussaud fought it for years.

RIP fella. This is a sad day. I've always been really fond of Kip, and it's hard not to well up thinking about how sneaky and underhanded laminitis is, to take horses like this away from us. We gotta beat this thing.

Add Affirmed to the list of horses euthanized as a result of laminitis. He had a dislocated joint that was repaired only for the insidious disease to set in.

I was sad to hear this, poor horse fought so long, as someone who has personally battled the rollercoaster ride of laminitis I know too well the heartache, my condolences to the connections.
