Gotta ease your way into the juleps. Stop at Finlandia on the way in, grab a bloody mary at 10:00, a julep at 11:00, then move to beer. Your handicapping acumen plummets, but it makes for an otherwise fun Derby day.

7 1/2 is way too far for HDC. Keep her at six. Kennealy's horse looks like she could be a nice miler.

Congrats to Tom McCarthy! He just won the Turf Classic with General Quarters. I loved that group hug he got afterward. Best thing on the NBC coverage so far.

nice dig in by general quarters in the woodford...even better, seeing a bunch of last years derby horses back for another year. they may not be the best ever, but i'm glad to see it.

That IEAH rat cost me a bunch today not beating GQ. General Quarters was at least a viable alternative to him as the rest of the field had shown no soft turf form. I've certainly had worse beats. At least I didn't get to CD in time to play the pick 4, then I REALLY would have been nutty.

there is no speed at all in the woodford reserve. i think al khali has a good chance on or just off the slow pace.
