Don't feel so bad. When I was 13 or 14, I sold some baseball cards at a huge discount to a friend because I needed the money to bet some slugs at Jefferson Downs. I returned the favor a few years later by not intervening on his behalf when I saw a cop chasing him down the street - I was leaving for Fair Grounds and didn't want to miss the race.
