no one that deep in denial ever acknowleges any amount of gay.

he felt the need to announce he was straight because he partook in a topic about being gay. like gay was cooties and you might catch it.

timm's self assessment is 100% straight. guarenteed.

Timmi's not a bad guy & he was just replying to my question when he said he was straight.

I just would hope he could realize that me or BWS being gay.. or Timmi being straight.. are not "choices".

The article had a lot more than gay albatrosses, I'm sorry if that's all you saw....I disagree with the dimmer switch comment. That would make it seem like everyone would have a propensity to be gay at some point. I don't think so....Which is why I don't believe anyone is truly bisexual at all. They are lying to themselves.

It's not just about albatrosses -- but the first one to condemn the article basically said as much. There are tons of studies out there that are similar and have shown homosexuality in nature over and over and over.

I think I speak for anyone that any talk of albatrosses from here out is nothing but mocking the poster who gave a wise word of caution to not make a jump from them to humans.

Let's talk about what really matters: Who here thinks they have the right to poke themselves and their own personal opinions into someone else's bedroom-love-sex-entire life?

This is not the topic of the thread for a reason. A very simple question, either people are born gay or they aren't...

I think there's ample scientific behavioural evidence in humans that people feel their sexuality is predestined from as early as they can remember thinking about it. It's not a choice to be attracted to the same sex, any more than it is a choice to be attracted to the opposite sex.

Looking at that within the broad spectrum of conferring evolutionary advantages to different species regarding self-perpetuation makes it even more clear that it's not "black and white" that males/females are the only desired pairing (from an evolutionary/species preservation point of view)

And it's a ridiculous 'debate,' so it's going to get derailed.

1. If people are born straight, people are also born gay. To say otherwise is to question the legitimacy of the concept of homosexuality entirely.
2. There are few social benefits to 'choosing' to be gay, so it doesn't make logical sense that so many people would choose it.

i wasn't arguing that everyone had a propensity to be gay.

i'm arguing that sexuality is a lot more complex then a simple state of "a" or "b" and that's all there is to it.

guilt can drive you toward simplistic explanations. and most of us don't want to rummage around in the basement enough to find out what actually drives us.

but someone saying they've never, ever, ever, had a passing gay thought is like someone saying they have never, ever, ever, had a passing thought of harming another.

that's why i say most people are somewhere on a sliding scale.

I agree with what you originally posted but I disagree with this, especially in women. Let's be honest, if you were a woman would you be physically attracted to a man? I sure wouldn't, most men are gross. Women are far more beautiful. That being said, there is the innate need in most women to reproduce, which obviously requires a man, therefore causing the conundrum of need versus want.

Well I know there's one DT'er he's always "happy to see," so you may be onto something.

i got into an argument (probably a waste of time on my part) with a woman i used to work with, who said 'god wouldn't make gay people'. so she said they must choose to be so.

I work with someone like that and yesterday, she was talking with someone else about American Idol and when the other girl mentioned Ellen Degeneres the woman felt a need to say "I just don't agree with that lifestyle!" That had absolutely nothing to do with the conversation, but she felt compelled to say it.

Perhaps she was referring to people who watch American Idol?

I have no problem with gay people but those who watch American idol....They worry me...

Obviously people can hook up with both sexes, I'm simply saying you are one or the other, there is no 50/50 split nonsense. It's made up.

I asked my wife her opinion on this and she said you are born straight or gay and the people that go both ways are just really horny.
