OMG! Please post that he is OK. On a related note, does anyone know how Kip Deville is doing?

Sacred Kingdom out of the woods
AAPFrom: Monday, 22 March 2010

Champion sprinter Sacred Kingdom is making a rapid recovery from a life-threatening bout of colic and might even race again later this year.

Trainer Ricky Yiu Poon-fai said the danger period for the gelding had passed and Sacred Kingdom would return to his stables later this week.

"It's a relief. He's out of danger and he's a tough boy - you wouldn't know anything had happened to him at all," Yiu told the South China Morning Post.

"He's walking around and looks bright again.

"He'll stay in the hospital at Sha Tin until Monday then come back to my stables, but the vets are totally in charge of Sacred Kingdom's feed for the time being."

Colic can be fatal but the surgeon who operated on Sacred Kingdom to untwist his affected section of bowel said the fact the champion was able to be treated quickly probably saved his life.

Yiu confirmed Sacred Kingdom's prognosis was good and said he hoped to have him back in time to defend his Hong Kong International Sprint crown in December.

"It's probably better for him to have a longer break and get completely over it but they are actually quite optimistic that we will get the horse back," he said.

"Hopefully, he can recover top form and we can target the international sprint again."

Came on to post this but oh, seeing that post about Kip....

Okay well the good news is this...

October 1st at Sha Tin...

At first i thought it was going to be a welcome back ceremony but it appears he'll run in the Sha Tin Sprint Trophy (a race he had won back in 2007).

Thrilled to see him back!

For anyone who wants to watch his 15 wins (15-3-1 from 23)...

Well aside from an awkward start where he nearly hits his head, he looked good.

Barrier trial, batch 3 (Able One lookin good too).

Sacred kingdom runs on Oct. 1st.

(It's being billed as the day "the champion rejoins the field". Damned right!).
