It's funny how so many of them are always just begging to go two-turns.

Normally true ... but when you're a seller in these sales .. nothing is more important than being able to convince people the horse wants two-turns. They see the raw speed for themselves in the under-tack. Caller One would have been begging for 2 miles if you're the one selling him.

They don't write races for 4 furlongs often enough for Caller One.

The quote I'm waiting for from an honest consignor:

"Well, everybody that's looked at him can see he's crooked as the letter Dubya, but he's together right now, breezed real good, and as long as he keeps it together he should win somebody a couple races..."

I just wonder why Wes Ward doesn't pinhook his homebreds?
They would work 9 second eighths, 17 second quarters and sell for 5 million each.

If they have no pedigree and are crooked, the numbers are still limited, even if they can fly. A few years ago, the Ward-trained homebred One Hot Wish broke the world record for 4.5F at Keeneland in her career debut (48.87 seconds on Polytrack). She had a left knee that her consignor described as "a little freaky" and was sired by Bring the Heat. They entered her as a "late addition" to Keeneland's 2YO sale after her debut, and she RNA'd at $300K.

I liked that Hip #30 by Badge of Silver. Surprised he only went for $45k, even if the breeze was in the middle of the range.

The two fastest horses I've ever seen from OBS fit that profile well.

Afrashad worked like 20.60 back when it was dirt and times were MUCH slower now than on average. He was a 15k Smoke Glacken yearling and Godolphin paid 500K for him.

Master of Disaster was sired by Dance Master and sold for 12K. He ended up going for 600K at OBS Feb. Broke his maiden by almost 15 lengths in his debut going 4.5 furlongs. Was 2nd at like 6/5 to Henny Hughes in the Saratoga Special in his 2nd start.

The Badge of Silver in this sale who worked the 10 flat bullet 1/8th ...

The mother of that horse once got beat almost 30 lengths in a 3K N2L claimer going a mile at Fairmount Park.

She's had 4 foals to race so far, 3 have won, and 1's a stakes winner. I'm a huge fan of broodmares who were disgraceful race horses.
