I wonder if Shirreffs/Zetcher would run Zardana against Zenyatta in the Apple Blossom. Jerry Moss seemed okay with it in the interview after Zenyatta's win. But if RA does not go in the Apple Blossom, the purse will drop dramatically.

i see zardana staying and running in ark, and zenyatta staying in cali if rachel doesn't show.

I think this is highly unlikely. The Apple Blossom has been Zenyatta's early season target. If the RA people duck the race, I can't imagine that Moss would "let them off the hook" by keeping Zenyatta in California.

I'd certainly bet Zardana over Zenyatta on dirt... but yeah, they only both run in the Apple Blossom if RA goes... obviously.

While watching both races I initially thought, "Wow, Zenyatta's still got it." and "Rachel's not as good as a Horse of the Year should be."

Then I realized that after long lay offs BOTH races were just preps for the main event--the Apple Blossom.

it only became her target a few weeks ago. if rachel doesn't go, the purse drops dramatically. no reason to ship then, and zardana is already close by. they both won't run if rachel fails to appear.


just saw that moss says they'll show regardless...we'll see.

Zeny had an easier group than did Rachel. Even though she won once she found some room. Zeny was running against a weaker group today for sure. Rachel on the other hand ran into a buzz saw today that horse can flat out fly.
