UPDATE:

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/2010...cino_deal.html

Meanwhile, AEG Tuesday morning said all of its investors have filed applications for their gaming license applications, meeting a noon deadline imposed by Paterson.

Statement of Jeffrey Levine, Founder and CEO of Levine Builders and Partner in Aqueduct Entertainment Group, LLC:

"All applications have been submitted to Lottery in full compliance with the state's instructions," AEG founder and CEO Jeffrey Levine said in a statement.

ALBANY - Influential Queens Rev. Floyd Flake is giving up his role in a group picked by Gov. Paterson to run the Aqueduct racino, the Daily News has learned.

Flake, hounded by controversy for weeks, made the decision as an investigation by the state Inspector General's Office into the selection of his group, Aqueduct Entertainment Group, heats up

UPDATE #2:

Sources say Aqueduct racino mess is growing

ALBANY - State investigators have uncovered a slew of eyebrow-raising oddities in their probe of the tainted Aqueduct racino deal, the Daily News has learned.

"It's becoming clearer and clearer that there's a problem there," a source close to the investigation said.

Probers with Inspector General Joseph Fisch's office have grilled a host of Gov. Paterson's aides, including his No. 2 lawyer, David Rose, and members of the state Lottery and Budget divisions.

They're also digging through e-mails and documents between the state and racino bidders.

Some officials have told investigators they were shocked when Paterson picked politically connected Aqueduct Entertainment Group to run the racino, which is expected to bring operators and the state hundreds of millions of dollars a year.

Racing in NY will be fine because the product is good and getting better. NYRA is addressing serving the bettor. NYRA does have people in place that want to make sure the product is good. NYRA isn't perfect but how can you be when you are broke and are required to beg for money instead of running your business to earn..Its totally unfair how do you run a business if nothing the state promises ever comes true? If they told them tomorrow NO SLOTS EVER at least they could develop a plan..Unti then they are going to beg the state for money and eventually the State will borrow more money they don't have to make the thing solvent for a while longer? Belmont isn't going to stop racing!

NY Lawmakers Want Urgency in Casino Decision
By Tom Precious

State lawmakers March 10 urged Gov. David Paterson, who is considering pulling the plug on Aqueduct Entertainment Group’s casino deal at Aqueduct, to pick from one of the remaining bidders if the AEG contract is scuttled.

“We need to move from the other choices available. There’s no reason to start from scratch again,’’ Sen. Eric Adams, a Brooklyn Democrat and chairman of the Senate’s racing committee, said if Paterson and legislative leaders kill the AEG deal.

The state’s Lottery Division has told aides to Paterson that it does not believe AEG can obtain the licenses it needs from the agency to run the Aqueduct casino.

Sources said the agency, among it concerns, raised issues with Karl O’Farrell, an Australian businessman who ran Capital Play, which bid on a previous Aqueduct casino project. AEG officials have sought to assure lottery officials that O’Farrell has no role with its current bid.
