You would think that the purse money would draw more (and better) horses to the track resulting in fuller fields. Maybe they could even draw some A/E lists for races and in the event of bad weather, you wouldn't be stuck with the unbetable 3-4 horse races seen unfortunately way to much down there. For the fans its a great concept..I think it ultimately makes NY horseman and NY based operations significantly stronger. Who do you think will be winning these pots? I have a hunch every sharp trainer will have an eye in the condition book and most won't be NJ trainers. Again, for usfan its great news, I really don't care about the viablity of NJ racing or its horseman, I just care about the racing.

Monmouth is unreal especially busy. It's just a sweet place to go, as is AP. their most likely will be a deal with the casinos at some point. I like the little 21 day fall meet shipping over to Monmouth a lot.. There was no point to the Meadowlands TB meet (although the turf course was cool). The area is empty in the fall and those will be nice dates and days to watch some racing live. Those are good races because you will still have a bunch of NY based B teamers around and they still race for OK money

The best thing about the Meadowlands (at least for me) was the night racing. Agree that it was nice having a pristine turf course so late into the season too, but as far as logistics you're right. Not to mention it has to hurt them that they have to be dark on Sunday afternoons due to Giants and Jets home games.
Who knows, maybe that little fall meet will lead them to making a push for the BC again. Even though I was kind of against it, I thought that they did a great job the first time and would love to see them get another crack with hopefully much better weather conditions.

I don't know what his beef was, but for the amount of rain that they had it still turned out to be a wonderful event (at least according to me). I really believe that if it wasn't the Breeders Cup there would have been at least one day if not two days of racing canceled because of the monsoon that rolled through.
