it's funny in a way, the stimulus was supposed to create jobs to get people off the dole, but they also had to fund extra unemployment as well as more food stamps....

stimulus necessary? most likely. pols know the bill has to pass, so they threw in everything including the kitchen sink? absolutely. and now, a jobs bill, since the stimulus hasn't created enough jobs, and didn't attack the right areas. maybe this one will help. if not, how much more of our money are they going to throw around trying to find the right formula?

Doubt there will be any jobs help from this Senate.

Just a week after Senate Republican Jim Bunning's infamous obstruction of an unemployment benefits extension, the GOP is taking another stand that pits deficit reduction against aid to the poor and jobless.

On Tuesday, Senate Republicans -- along with some Democrats -- defeated a measure to provide $1.3 billion for summer jobs for young people this year and a $1.3 billion extension of enhanced subsidies for poor families with children.

Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), who introduced the amendment along with Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), pleaded with her colleagues not to object.

"I have personally heard the stories of these young men and women whose summer jobs changed their lives across the country," she said. "This amendment will provide $1.3 billion to create up to 500,000 temporary jobs this coming summer. It will invest in critical employment and learning programs that will help not only these young people but the businesses who hire them."

You don't believe that I doubt there will be much help from this Senate on jobs?

Have you not been watching the voting by the GOP for the past year? And yesterday? And the way the Democrats fold when someone looks at them crosseyed?

And you want a link to how I formed that opinion?

ROFLMAO.

i thought that jobs bill passed a few weeks back? or was it just the house version?

it doesn't seem like anything is getting done right now, everyone seems to have tunnel vision about health care reform, and nothing else. can't pols multi-task? helll, they all seem to have wives and mistresses...surely they can take care of more than one agenda item a day??

edit~looks like a senate version is getting done after all...

"House Democrats Ban Earmarks to Companies"

Not that big a thing in real life, but it helps.
