That horrendous 8/1 shot that won the Silverbulletday came from a long way last .. that track was very fair.

Discreetly Mine and Tempted To Tapit were so vastly superior to the Risen Star field on paper - that, without hooking up, they would have left a VERY sizeable gap back to 3rd place if it was a true speed biased track.

I was also pissed with Bridgmahon's ride - but because I singled General Quarters in the race - and Bridgmahon felt the need to race ride and trap GQ instead of just opening up the lead and trying to outfinish GQ again.

Friesan Fire ran an absolutely terrible race. I doubt the ride had much to do with it .. as that is still an extremely easy trip for any tactical speed router.

I thought FF looked like something went wrong at the top of the stretch.

Yeah - that would make what - 4 out of his last 5 starts where you could say that?

Some horse to bridgejump.

I thougth she ran a very big race in there drugs, the winner of the SBD.

To me it makes no sense to rate a horse who can be alone by 2 on the lead if you just give him his head. 6 horse field hes trying to pin robby on the rail, it was ridiculous.

I did see him bobble at the top of the lane.

I just hate bridgmohan, I hate all of them, but I found that extremely retarded

FF had an easy first quarter but look at the half. First 1/4 in 24 3/5, the next quarter was in 23 3/5. The fractions from 4 to 6 furlongs was 23 and 4. After the easy first quarter this horse had to run hard and ran out of gas. General Quarters let this horse set his own pace in his last race and lost. They were not going to play same game again.

The longshot winner of the race gained a full length on Friesan Fire into the teeth of his supposedly 23 3/5 second quarter .. he also gained a half length into the 23 4/5 third quarter. He went from a stalker to a presser into the part of the race you isolate as the strongest.

Friesan Fire just ran his 4th total dud in his last five tries. You shouldn't make excuses for extremely favorable trips - and FF had one today.

Maybe Bridgmohan should have just taken that free ride on the lead instead of trying to trap General Quarters the whole way... but it wouldn't have mattered anyway because the horse didn't show up at all today.

I don't think Friesen Fires is a Grade 1 or even a Grade 2 horse. You are right about his easy first quarter but at that point he was pressured and and he fell apart. The internal splits were quick and if he was a top class racehorse he should have gutted it out. I pointed out the quick fractions as the reason this horse threw in the towel.

The initial poster mentioned about the poor ride. There a few differences between the 09 and 10 FF. One is Assmusen trains and I'm sure he has different opinions about conditioning a racehorse. The other is blinkers were added in his last race. The Assman was training this horse to be more agressive and with blinks that usually adds speed.
