as to why they do it, it's so there are no glitches in the performance. we've all seen times where bands flub a song. the anthem is pre-recorded, and so is half time.
there is no way the anthem was pre-recorded, Carrie Underwood was WAY off key. In fact the Who were better than Underwoods anthem easily.

didn't catch it, we had the tv elsewhere. but generally, it's pre-recorded so there are no missed lines. i remember when whitney houston sang it and everyone said they loved it-then they found out it was taped ahead.
it's no big deal to me if they do that, i expect in general that shows are taped. how else could some of the performers do so much dancing, etc, without getting out of breath?

yeah, right. they'd be out of breath after all those dance moves, regardless of how in shape they are. they're not just singers, but entertainers. so, they put on a hell of a show, but no way it's not lip syncing. you guys remember ashley simpson on snl, right?

i know it is lip syncing.. but I dont go see those types of performers.

Rock Bands are up there jammin and dancing and drinking and still singing with their own voices!

I wouldnt pay more than $5 to see a pop star lip sync and dance in slutty outfits.. would rather spend the money at a strip club if I'm going to pay to see ho's dance!

I LOVE Dave Matthews Band concerts.. must have seen in 12 or more times... of course I remember only about 4 shows.. its a young and drug induced crowd. Best is when they have shows at the SPAC in Saratoga.. best concert venue I've even been too (though I hear Red Rocks is amazing)

They do it all the time. They record the track first with pop in moments to go live. Some are just better with it than others. Why is this a surprise to some?

In Queen latifah's, it sounded like the voice dub got delayed a little in the beginning.

she was great.. even if recorded!! I just thought Underwood missed like 4 or 5 notes bad so I dont see how they would have used a poor recording.
