This is certainly not a done deal yet. Looks like another example the corrupt politicians in New York using horse racing as a way to grease themselves and their friends. Some vetting process, one of the partners convicted of ripping off the government of $500,000. This group really looks like they have racing's interest as their highest priority. Incredible!

Now Silver going to block this deal, looks like the right thing, but for the wrong reasons. Though it is hard to argue that it is wrong to hand this to criminals, but then again, I doubt whoever Silver wants is any better. New York needs to clean house with these clowns. Unfortunately, this saga appears to be far from over. Government corruption at its pinnacle.

As for Eric Adams, he is just another political hack who is right in the pocket of many involved in AEG and those promoting this group such as Floyd Flake and Malcolm Smith. As a former cop, I would love to know what Adams credentials are for being the Senate Racing and Wagering Committee Chairman. Unfortunately, it is hard to believe that this group cares about racing at all and shoving through a group of politically connected criminals for the sake of getting this up and running does not sound like a plan for the long term success of racing. The real problem is that since Silver does not have this group in his pocket he is opposing it. The need for a legitimate operator should be imperitive here, but until these political hacks are bounced, it is unlikely to happen. |

In this economy you have to take their $100,000,000 increase over their intitial offer seriously . Hope they can work out the wrinkles and turn that shovel quickly. After that point government audits and oversight will keep that racino on course - we hope. As usual this might be little ado about nothing.
