Just go by yourself, especially if you are the only one interested in it. This way you will be able to take in what you want without having to explain everything and without listening to other people complain about wanting to leave. It would probably be worth the sacrafice of missing hangin out with your friends for one day. I'm sure if you don't go you eventually regret it.

just tell your friends you want to go for 1 race to say you've been there, then
you and you're friends can start the planned events. If they are good friends they should be willing to do it for about 30min at most.
