Texas Tech continues to investigate a complaint from Adam James and his family, but Mike Leach backers wonder why he was suspended before the investigation was complete. "They never even told him why he was suspended," a source said. "There's nothing more to investigate. The source said Craig James has been "hounding these coaches at Texas Tech - not just Mike - all year" for more playing time for Adam James. "They suspended him because a family is upset about the kid's playing time," the source said. "That's what it is. [Leach] didn't do anything wrong with this kid. "James wanted Mike, No. 1, to promise that his son would be a starter next year, which you can't do." Craig James did not return a telephone call seeking comment.

Fort Worth Star-Telegram

i also read on the espn ticker that one of the asst coaches said in an email to the ad that leach and he had had to discipline james just a day or two before the supposed incidents-that his lack of work during practice was an issue.

Now there's a common sense question....You don't think it has anything to do with the fact that if Mike Leach wakes up 12/31/09 and is the coach of the football team he is owed a bonus of 850K......nah......just a coincidence!!

This whole story (James Kid) is an atrocious example of non medical people making medical decisions and speaking as official reps of the medical consultative staff without the training or education of that discipline....

The Univ. Board of Reagents wanted the coach out and thought the coaches actions were enough to do so......here's where they are wrong!

1) James caught 3 passes in the last game and was evaluated by a neurologist for a "mild concussion" with a normal head CT (no bleeding) following the game

2) James refuses to practice later the next week, Coach asks him to report to neurologist (James refuses) Coach calls neurologist who tells him James injuries are not serious according to neuro scoring (Glasscow Coma Scale = 14 )

There is zero chance of deterioration with this score. A fact that will come out in court when TT university loses this case and pays punitive damages

3) Craig James can whine all he wants, but this time the coach was smart enough to call the neurologist and then follow orders the doc gave as in cool dark room. Coach is unable to say anything about James's condition because of HIPAA but will make more money than God in 2010.

I think it's even money or better he ends up there, assuming TTU doesn't take him back after this punk kid's story gets blown up. They already have great personnel for his system and with their recent success recruiting will be easy.

Yeah, I missed that. They got the guy from CMU, where they got Kelly.

Isn't UK already locked into Joker Phillips if Brooks retires?

Leach's attitude toward the administration got him fired. he was on rocky ground with the AD. the act and his interaction with his "bosses" afterward finished him off. being owed $800k helped push the matter along.

To me the big question in this whole fiasco is will Mike Leach make more money next year than Craig James did while he was playing at SMU.

There are a handful of people on the Mizzou Sports board that I frequent who are actually arguing that Missouri should fire Gary Pinkel and try to hire Mike Leach. I mean....sure Pinkel just led Missouri to their best 3-year stretch in school history - and Leach just got canned - but let's go ahead and make the switch.
I swear there are guys who post over there who make PG85 look like a genius.
