They should just cancel the state IMO...that state needs major legislative change.

I dont think people understand how precarious the situation is for racing in socal, it would not be good for any state if california racing goes down.

Lots of needless drama in this thread

Barns are giving there stock a rest before the Santa Anita meet.

When I started following racing in the late 70's there was no December racing and Oak Tree finished up after the first week in November.

This will all be forgotten the day after Christmas.

Your joking right?

Can you tell me where all the 32 to 62.5k claiming races have gone? Where have all the maiden races, where are the Alw races?

The only thing left is stake races and mdn claimers, lots of those...the middle is gone. Heck even a staple 5 years ago. the mid level claiming grass race is all but disappeared, this has nothing to do with the HP meet.

People still are betting though....if you build it they will come....even if they are 6 horse fields lol

You have no idea what it takes to own a horse in training in California.

The handle will just move to other tracks across the nation via the internet.
