Hasan will be tried in military court, found guilty and his paralyzed a$$ will be 'allowed' to lay for hours on end in his own crap because the military will be his guards, caretakers etc. More importantly his fellow prisoners will be military so he won't be allowed the privilege or refuge of being protected and nurtured like a 'pet' with the muslim population found in any State prison. I imagine eventually someone on the left will fight the death penalty w/some off-the-wall argument like he can't stand up to face the firing squad.

I'll just stick the the off the wall argument that it's just wrong to do and that's why we shouldn't do it

I knew I could count on you!

Truthfully in this particular case I'm on your side but for the reason death would be a lesser punishment than facing life as a paraplegic with lets just say less than perfect care.

Ha.

That's one issue where for me there is no black and white, no ifs or maybes - no condition under which I think it's okay.

lol

I'm the complete opposite. I'm barbaric and feel that rapist and child molesters should be executed (in almost all circumstances). That mormon guy who just got convicted of child rape should be hanged. Also anyone convicted of 1st degree murder should be executed. And it should happen fairly quickly.

Methinks if that was the way of the law there would be much less violent crime.

I agree with you %1000 on this. Why should us taxpayers support thugs like that who have no regard for thier fellow human beings.

if anyone deserves the death penalty it's that monster of a woman whose 5 year old daughter was just found dead in n.c. she gave the girl to a guy-he is on surveillance cameras carrying the girl into a motel. apparently she prostituted her own daughter. words cannot describe how disgusted i am about this story.

i'm no proponent of the death penalty. i recommend anyone who can to read leonard pitts' article about the death penalty after the d.c. sniper was given an injection last week. it mirrors my sentiments. on one level, i don't think the state should be in the business of killing its citizens.

on a more visceral level, at times i think 'kill the bastard'. hell, there've been times where i thought i'd even volunteer to pull the switch, push in the plunger....

You said it all better than I could. It's not that I don't 100000% understand the concept, and catch myself thinking that at times because it's a very sort of gut reaction that honestly makes a lot of sense -- but as you said, the idea that the govt. is in the business of killing people as punishment just seems backwards to me, and wrong.
