This race is a tough call.Smooth Performer appears to be at a pace disadvantage but the #3 is stretching out beyond 6f for the first time which could provide a fast enough pace.#1,#4 and #5 have experience over the surface yet the #2 and #3 are the only two that have worked over it recently.Bejarano is 4 for 4 on Annie and even though she is the most reliable horse in the race the surface switch makes me pause.If it ain't broke don't fix it.
I'll be waiting 1:25 before Gomez gets the #4 past the 4th place horse if he does at all.Risky Race.

Makes me nervous, too. I took the #5. With the #1 scratched, I only have to beat a single horse, but with 20 min to post, my horse is the longest odds.

Ouch, tough beat.I've been knocked out the first race of the contest numerous times .But on the flip side the pressure is off.

Didn't get to watch it. (Had to watch a plumber trying to unclog a kitchen sink instead!) Was it close at least?

Real close. Looked like the 5 had Annie measured throughout and faded in the last 50 yards by a neck.Gomez was life and death to get by those two late.
