On a push from www.twitter.com/derbycontenders, I just watched a replay of the 10th at Turfway Sunday. Connemara was left at the gate and made an amazing last-to-first move that carried him right on to the wire. Pletcher trains this Giant's Causeway colt and while you'd have to assume this one isn't a first-stringer since he's racing at Turfway, this was a fantastic debut.

First off, now that is a Derby horse name. Doesn't mean he's gonna get there, but should he, well that name won't embarrass anybody and sounds kinda cool. Is there a way to see the race online (not the wagering sites, I can't get those in my state)? One of these days I'm gonna break down and join Twitter, ugh. Maybe someone there has the video posted on their page.

Also just another horse book observation, The Blind Connemara by C.W. Anderson, great for kids. This horse's name reminded me of that fond memory.
