Well, we never talked about whether he was good enough to be a starting outfielder for the Yankees, or the Red Sox. He needs a pitcher who is throwing a lot of pitches. Against a control pitcher, he should just go ahead and swing at the first pitch. When he takes that first strike against a control pitcher, then it gets pretty hopeless for him. He's got a super batting average against the 0-0 pitch. The Giants don't really think though. So, he probably will keep taking the first pitch that comes from a pitcher who is in command of his pitches. Regardless, you could give the Pharaoh some credit for stepping up in what was pretty much a must win game. I mean being 4 1/2 back in the Wild Card was a definite possibility going into last night's game. Padilla had just dominated the Giants last Saturday. They needed a nice start, and he destroys the drunk's 8th pitch to him. Look at the video. Drunk is surprised. Can't even catch Martin's toss of the new ball. Surprised the Drunk didn't throw at him in the next at bat. That odd celebratory clap thing the Pharaoh does (when he crosses the plate etc.) could be seen by some to be a bit much. When he's playing well, he's a lot of fun to watch. Then again, I've been known to watch Turks try to drive.
