I think there are plenty of cheaters in all sports, I don't see why Biancone should be vilified more than the others. He's no worse than a Roger Clemons, Marion Jones, Lance Armstrong, Manny and Ortiz...the vast majority of the supposed greatest atheletes are all on something that it doesn't even raise an eyebrow with me anymore.

Oh yea injecting cobra venom to block pain so a horse can basically break its freaking leg and not feel it is the same as putting a needle in your OWN ass so you can hit a baseball farther. Biancone risked the health of defenseless animals. He's a lot closer to Vick & Paragallo than Clemons, Jones, Armstrong, Manny and Ortiz. Biancone and his old vet should not be around horses. He's a scumbag.

He did his time, I wish he would bring all of his horses back to NY and have Julian be his go to rider again. Those were the days.

QUOTE] This is a very broad statement, there are some drugs such as EPO or HGH that improve muscle mass or that enhances oxygen to the blood vessles. I'm not sure I would compare Biancone to a Mark Shulman when he had the Gill stable, I'm simply saying drugs are a part of sport and I am not certainly not astonished anymore when these things are reported. Judging by how many second and third chances many of these high profile offenders have had, various administrations seem to be taking the apathetic viewpoint also. |

I wasnt talking about EPO, HGH... was talking about Biancone and COBRA VENOM. thats why he was suspended... COBRA VENOM!!! the vet and Biancone are exactly on the same level as Shulman and Gill... makes the horse feel no pain at all. Its very dangerous. Its not fun to see a horse trying to still run with his leg flopping around because its broke and the horse doesnt know it. I would have much rather him being caught milkshaking or with HGH.. and thats a sad statement.

sure, if you want to be hyper-logical and fair beyond the standards of due diligence, Biancone has recieved extra attention because of the dramatic nature of the substance with which he was caught. Still, a strong commissioning body would have done well to issue Biancone "the Black Spot", a lifetime ban from the sport, as much for the perception of his acts as for his transgressions. For it is the The perception here that makes the impact. To continue reading this article you must be an Insider ![]() |
