I dont know about the first thing but I remember hearing the 2nd thing.. Bush, just like Obama, never controlled oil prices or had/has the ability to control the prices.

We really should be getting oil from our own damn country instead of letting foreigners take all our damn money from the pump (robbing our wallets).

Gas is WAY to expensive right now. I want to know what it cost the last time the market was at 8300. Shoot at least last year when they were WAY WAY WAY too high the market was like 12000.

Just looked it up.. for a minute in Oct 2002 the market was around 8300 and gas prices were around 1.50 though other than that it was >1998 when the market was this low, and gas prices were in 1998 1.03 per gallon.


Gas should be no more than 1.75 a gallon right now. Its basically stealing.

I respectfully disagree..you look at long term inflation charts and gas is the only commodity, or basically product of any kind that is still under the average inflation increase. It SHOULD be $4.00 or 5.00 a gallon and maybe that would be in all of our best interests. Kind of painful, but sure would make people walk more, idle less, use public transportation more and stop bitching about the cost of what is still the best bargain around.

Yep, any gas price beyond $3 should go 5% for something useful(attack deficit n' alternate energy incentives,) and 5% for oil company profits. Need to do something to protect the industries that are totally reliant on fuel(trucking, airlines etc.) Use that 5% for something other than making pigs fatter.

I'm okay with alternate energy when we actually have the resources and a freakin plan for it.. oh yeah.. and the money for it. its a real bad idea right now.

Only 18.4 cents per gallon is federal taxes. The federal government could be taking a far greater share of the pie.

Here in Cali the combined total between state and federal is about 62 cents per gallon.....the gas station down the road from me is charging 2.79 a gallon right now.

It's more directed at all the lazy asses in my neighborhood who drive their kids 5 blocks to school every day, sit and idle waiting to drop them off and then do it all over again each afternoon. 180 school days a year..and no, they aren't on their way to work or anything...just drive back home.

that sounds like a very liberal idea, but it wouldnt be in anyone's best interest right now. Nope, cant even think of one person who's best interest it would be in except the owners of oil companies. Maybe one day like 10 years from now when we have an alternative energy plan in place and understand more about options.

right now the only thing in our best interest is keeping/putting money in our own pockets (and not giving right back to Uncle Sam) and keeping our country safe.

all well and good where it's available.


also, we won't pump more of our own oil-setting up to pump our own is a huge expense, and the oil co's don't exactly see a reason to put out that kind of money when so many are pushing alternative fuels-they'd never recoup their investment.

as far as opec cutting their price-yeah, right. it's the one commodity in the middle east-without oil, they're nothing and they're broke.
