Retired... Puerto Rico, former AOB runner who was shipped to Hong Kong a couple of years ago and who went downhill fast.

He started with a Class 1 rating and with one exception in 24 starts (he was 3rd) was never better than 8th and usually last. From Class 1 to a rating of 28. Sad stuff.

He had been pretty nice... 2 wins at the Curragh at 2 and at 3, once breating home a field of 26. 2 0 2 of 6 with AOB.

Hope he gets to start a new career.

Happy retirement. About time...

Retired as well... Spy King, Never Look Back, Palais d'Or, Rice Field, Keen Taker, Supurb Gains,.

Race 7 on Sunday... Dynamic Blitz and Warrior!

Friday barrier trials.... Jackpot Delight wins batch 1!

Good luck to the sole Hong Kong Raider, aka the Hong Kong Bomb, tomorrow.

YEA!!!

http://www.virtualformguide.com/cgi-...ebrilliant.txt

Helene Brilliant Takes Aim At Gosford
The open spaces at Marcus Wilson's Hunter Valley property suit Hong Kong import Helene Brilliant who is primed to recapture winning form in the Takeover Target Stakes at Gosford.

The young trainer won the PJ Bell Championship at Randwick earlier this month with Carrizo Creek who also came from Hong Kong.

On the same day, Helene Brilliant failed by just a neck to give Wilson a city double when beaten by Parfumier.

"I have a few horses that have come from Hong Kong and it takes them a while to acclimatise and a few runs to hit their straps," Wilson said.

"Helene Brilliant is enjoying the atmosphere in Australia and ran a good race at Randwick.

"He over-raced a bit and had to work hard.

"He carried four kilos more than the winner so it was a good effort."

As a young horse racing as Doctor Brown in England, Helene Brilliant beat Cockney Rebel who went on to win the English and Irish 2000 Guineas.

Doctor Brown also ran second to Excellent Art in a Group Two race before being sold in 2007 to Hong Kong where he was renamed and won two races.

The Bart Cummings-trained Kroner was installed favourite for Wednesday's feature in TAB Sportsbet's first markets.

He was at $3.20 on Monday ahead of Grand Rhumba ($7.5) and Innings and Welkom Gold ($8.50).

Helene Brilliant was at $21 but Wilson said he had a few things in his favour.

"He's got a good barrier with nine and a good jockey in Kerrin McEvoy," he said.

"He has also won a barrier trial at Gosford on a heavy track so I know he can handle it."

The son of trainer John Wilson, Marcus has had his own licence for three years and prepares his team at a state of the art facility on 200 acres at Singleton.

"The property is owned by one of my clients John Burton who is an owner and a breeder," Wilson said.

"We have a 1200 metre all weather track to train on with a 400 metre straight.

"There's a walking machine, a swimming pool and also 18 day yards.

"It's a great atmosphere for the horses."

Kroner has earned his favouritism with four wins from his past five starts, three on heavy tracks.

Nuclear Medicine is expected to back up from his fourth to News Alert in the Saturday's Healy Stakes at Eagle Farm.

The Gordon Yorke-trained gelding has won seven races, six on slow or heavy.

Gosford was a heavy 10 on Monday with some improvement predicted with fine weather over the next couple of days.

Awww, from Sacred Kingdom's blog on the HKJC site...

Sorry to tell you that I didn't manage to win the Golden Jubilee Stakes last Saturday, but just running at Royal Ascot in front of all those smartly-dressed people was a fantastic experience and I don't think I did badly to finish 5th, as some of the other lads in the race were very strong and competitive. I'm sure it must have been a bit disappointing for all our loyal fans back home, but Brett and I did our very best. Frankly, I was not very suited to the undulation of the track. Anyway, I'm still feeling fine and I've learnt a lot from the experience, so hopefully I can get back on the winning trail again for you very soon. I'll be back in Hong Kong on coming Saturday early morning (27/6), and I'll talk to you again then.
