Seattle Smooth was able to enjoy another absolutely perfect trip and I would bet a large sum that the result will be different the next time her and Seventh Street face each other.

The Beyer for the Ogden Phipps was a 97 by the way.

And Castellano followed this scintillating effort with an equally fine ride on Tam Lin. Anyone who wants to learn how to trip turf races at something above the basic level should watch the headon of this race and note how many times Tam Lin is forced to change leads because Castellano has put him in a bad spot.

I told someone that is a Godolphin fan that if Castellano ever puts on the blue silks again it is a travesty. Those were two laughably bad rides.

For the most I like Castellano on the turf though I agree he does make some bad decisions at times, I never liked Tam Lin. IMO he's nothing special.

the track must have been a speedway?

What exactly do you think those horses are capable of running?

All things considered, it was Seventh Street's best race by far. She got a 100 for the Apple Blossom after crawling on the lead on a speed track. Saturday, she actually had to earn her number.

I have no idea on a beyer scale.

just looking at a final time for 1 1/16th on dirt 142.13 is very good. They also came home pretty well for fast paced 1:42 race, but I'm not considering that in the beyer.

Looking at the full chart, the 9th race allowance shows similar fractions, so I am no longer impressed by the raw time. The only thing interesting now is a little bit of a track condition change from "good" to "fast". I am going to assume that the Beyer was accurate, and that with the way the track was playing, 1:42.13 wasn't anything special.

I wouldn't be so quick to say that. He was solid in the Gulfstream race in February. He also had absolutely no chance in Dubai.

Yesterday he was forced into a very strong pace for the course conditions and he came up short. He struggled over similar footing in the Woodbine Mile last year and while his BC win was earned on soft ground, he was making the third start of his form cycle that afternoon and benefited from a perfect trip.

I think once they get Kip back on firm footing he'll be back to himself. Though, I will say time may be catching up to him.
