I've had some success at the windows these past couple of months. I am actually considering a 3 to 4 week try at playing for a profit. A serious 5 day a week job with a plan, a budget. I worked for this company just shy of 3 years. Based on the way things went down, I might have a problem getting UI. I just have a little time to kill before I move. I've already got a job offer from a grocery chain in the south, and trust me their are planty of other (grocers) to work for down their. These chains are all in the south and have no strores here in Ohio.

Look, if I go to the track for 7, 10 days and am getting smacked around I have enough sense to quit. Just with all this time, and the attitude I have, well you know.

not sure why you'd have a problem getting unemployment, unless you were tagging the boss' wife/daughter.. it's pretty much a given.
but i think it's a bad idea to attempt what you're considering.

You lost your job, you have a couple thousand bucks to your name and you want to take a run as a professional gambler?........ What, you're forced into this drastic step because NASA's dragging their feet on your application to be an astronaut?

Based on your comment that "their are planty of other to work for down their", it would seem that corporate training for a position of this magnitude pretty much ends after mastering that challenging customer service hurdle of "paper or plastic?"

That is cold. I would suggest, though, that you buy as many tomatoes as you can haul and sell them on the road leading into your home-track. You will, in a way, be making money off the ponies, and you also will be gaining valuable life experience.

Live poker would be a superior option if you had the requisite skills - much more beatable - very few people are capable of making a profit from horseplaying - basically you have to be a superior handicapper who can find hidden value and a creative bettor who can exploit those valuable opinions in a way that overcomes take-out and the efficiency of the pools. To be honest, if you were capable of doing this at this point, you wouldn't need to ask questions like "what kind of bets should I play?"

You really should not consider this. There may be some attractive odds on different horses out there but the bottom line is NONE of those odds are in your favor to be successful in the scenario you described.

Despite a tough economy, and challenging job market, there is still always room for talented employees. It's out there for you, just go find it.
