Well, you knew that Curlin would be involved ....

Maybe I'm in the minority but I thought Jess Jackson did everything perfectly from a fan perspective. We wanted to see Curlin as a 4YO- he did it. We wanted to see him try turf- he did it. We wanted to see him go back to dirt- he did it. We wanted to see him in the BC Classic- he did it. Why is Jess Jackson buying Rachel Alexandra so bad, especially if he's gonna do exactly what MOST racing fans want, to run her against males?

good post....

I dont think Jess Jackson is the problem (though I've heard lots of people in the industry have a problem with him)

I think its ASSMAN that people would be upset about... I mean... who really wants to see ASSMAN train any good horse??

Apparently a whole lot of owners.
He has a lot of smaller owners win stakes
at some track.
Sometimes it seems like he has a horse in
every stakes race
across the country.

Is there a trainer with more horses?
I think he might have twice a many horses
as the next(2nd on the list) mega trainer.

It's good to hear that she is being bred to Curlin at least the chemicals will be in balance...Imagine the foal is going to be born dependant on EPO, Arm and Hammer, and Clen..

Well put. I don't get the outrage over this. The old connections made out , she is going to race against the boys, and we get hilarious Jess Jackson quotes for the next year. What is not to like?

what outrage? the only real negative comments i saw were about the potential next trainer. everyone pretty much conceded they'd sell if given the chance.

You must have missed Steve's show.

BTW that 2nd period was brutal.

“We are tremendously excited by the prospect of one day seeing the offspring of Curlin and Rachel Alexandra,” said Jackson. “But for now, the story of this filly is still being written. My four daughters and granddaughter will be delighted this super filly will race in our colors.”

I think he truly does want to see her race. As to Bo-rail, I don't think he'll initially lose the mount because the PR would be too bad. And that is why I'd bet Mine that Bird scratches out of whatever race she goes in.

Sure, his hyperbole got very annoying. I found it easy to tune him out, however, it was mostly over the top. I get the anti-Asmussen remarks without a doubt, however, what stuck out the most to me about this thing was that we're finally going to be able to see just how good Rachel Alexandra really is and as a fan that's exciting.

He did race Curlin at 4 and he did have Curlin try the grass.. He bought her to race her and hopefully she will continue to be terriffic. ASS did do a fine job with Curlin I would expect that he does a nice job with the filly.. As for going in the Preakness..why not? She really has no comp in her division and maybe she wins the dam thing by 7 lengths and we have something amazing to talk about.. I would rather her against her own but have absolutely no doubt she can beat the vermin heading for the Preakness..She is a super filly I don't give a crap who owns her all I know is I dont..

would love to see rachel try the preakness and try the boys. there's nothing left in her division imo. either go vs males, or take on zenyatta-on dirt.

if it takes jackson buying her to see her vs males, i can live with that. assman....ech.

He wanted to run Curlin at 4 the court case didn't hurt running him at 4 but I never thought he would have retired the colt at 3.

no court case, no hold up on a stud deal. he'd have retired him in a heartbeat for the $$$. since he was hamstrung, he went for the earnings record since he was already running curlin.

Why because 80% of 30mil is changing Jess's lifestyle... I am fairly positive that is incorrect..
