Maybe it was the flight for this crazy talk (as I was thinking this on the way home) but I was seeing if there was any way you could skip the Preakness with an injury free horse..The Derby double would be a great acheivement but a better feat would be to win the Kentucky Derby and then the Arc as it is THE race everyone in Europe wants to win. So that way you could still attempt the US triple crown, give the horse a well deserved rest, then ship to Europe, make sure to get in a prep race, ideally the Prix Niel, but I would like to prep in a G1 race rather than a G2. I would probably send the horse to Leopardstown for the Irish Champion Stakes or if I was feeling very adventureous, the St Leger, then the Arc.

Yeah, it seems that the Epsom Derby is really not a big deal here but the Arc is a huge deal. Maybe just cause one produces more horses for the BC so we are more familiar with it.

Well yeah, once a horse wins the Derby, they nearly always try to win at 10f to prove that the horse isnt "slow". And we did go through a stage of about 5 Derby winners when they never won a race after Epsom. There is no ducking in the Arc, its the richest race on Turf, the best of the best show up (I think the record margin of victory is only 6L in it).

Bad news for Mine That Bird is I believe the Arc (and Epsom Derby) are for Colts and Fillies only - NO GELDINGS!!!

That would be really funny, if a Derby winner wanted to run in the Arc and was denied.

if the horse wins the triple crown... no way he goes to the Arc because he will be LONG retired by then..

Dont have to wrory about MTB being retired if he were to win the Triple Crown , unless they wanted a riding lawn mower lol.
