Do they have superheroes doing the supertestings? Fire up the Batmobile, there is trouble after the Gotham.

I haven't read this whole thread.

It was quite a performance.

Shouldn't we be talking triple crown?

I'm serious. Just think. Before this race, we were all talking about what a great 3yo crop we had. Is it no longer good because Mine That Bird beat them? Sure, it could be a fluke, but then again, this horse could be special. I certainly would not discount him.

the three best horses in the crop weren't in the race. a lot of people had their capping fly out the window when IWR scratched. that race was wide open after the defections, and the piling on by other horses.

i doubt the horse is special. he'll turn out to be a go for gin, a gato del sol.

Maybe...but part of the game is getting to the dance and actually dancing.

The three best up to this point in time and after Saturday he notched the fourth spot.Honestly if Dunkirk or FF had been scratched before the race it would be too easy to say the 4th and/or fifth best horses had been scratched. Speaking of Dunkirk, what exactly have the horses coming out of south Florida done to this point? To me, as poor as MTB's form was prior to the Derby it's a whole new ballgame now.By the way I think MTB would do well to turn out as good as Go For Gin.

I wish someone had given me some Summer Bird-Dunkirk action.

who i believe never won again after the derby.
no way i'd rank this horse fourth best after that fluke win. and until he backs it up, it is a fluke win.

One thing we do know, he can run on polytrack and he won for a 1 -23 trainer at some obscure track. It is strange, any way you cut it the 7 length victory was impressive if we divorce ourselves who the horse was.

That's fair enough, there is a long way to go before the best of this generation is determined.Up to this point the two best colts to have "backed up" their performances are injured and because the win by MTB is a fluke then I would have to believe that everyone who ran in the Derby gets a free pass including the horses that ran to their previous figures.

So Dunkirk is suddenly a pig because he nearly fell over at the start and grabbed a quarter soon after, all along running over a sloppy track for the 1st time?
And who exactly are you referring to when talking about the other "horses coming out of South Florida"?
Dunkirk ran a great race against Quality Road, who obviously didn't run in the Derby. Several horses he beat in his Maiden and Allowance wins have come back to run well, including Santana Six and Warriors Reward, who won on Friday's card.
I'm not trying to be a Dunkirk apologist, but instantly attacking any horse's credibility that ran in "the mess" that was this year's Kentucky Derby is a ridiculous thing to do.

I bet Dunkirk and understand he reportedly was injured.I simply meant what other horses exiting GP have done anything in Derby preps.JoJo failed on poly and I suppose he can be excused for that effort. It's probably much too early to make any conclusions but up to this point I've seen zilch.

This ones for Phil ran two credible races after getting trounced by Quality Road in the FOY. I think one of them he even got moved up to first?
Like Gales said, go back and watch his trip in the Withers. He wasnt going to beat Mr Fantasy, but it would have been closer. This ones for Phil is a really nice horse...Met Mile looming?
