Any chance it was dismal because he was running in a monsoon and the track was a step below soupy?

He IS out of his league running 6F against the best in the world. His BC at Churchill was no picnic either. Running 7-9F is a different story though.

I still can't believe they're actually seriously considering sending Commentator there given his known fragility. I thought trainers hated the CT surface?

i don't think it's the surface as much as it's the tight turns.
when the track was re-done a few years ago, the horseman begged CT to open up the turns.

Or the fact that he stumbled at the start and was running at a distance nowhere near his best, despite the fact that he's a graded stakes sprint winner?
