Florida Derby is on 3/28 so that is in line with Pletcher's track record of spacing of races. If he runs well I imagine it's straight to the Derby. That would be three preps in the horses three year old season. Is that enough racing experience or does that even matter anymore since most horses are lightly raced leading up to the Kentucky Derby anyway?

Number of races before the Derby doesn't matter anymore, 20 horses make it to the starting gate for the Derby, only about 3 ever want anything to do with 10 furlongs. As long as you are one of those 3 and are fit enough you'll be fine. He would have to win the Florida Derby to be assured a spot in the Kentucky Derby though since Gulfstream cut the purse to $750,000 which means 2nd will only get $150,000 which will put them on the bubble. It hardly matters though, this horse has about a 1 in 8 chance of even being in the Derby starting gate between the likelihood of injury and of not winning the Florida Derby.
