attendence drops from 100k to 25k. Except 75k college kids show up at 8am still with case's full of beer to find they will have to turn around. Nobody will pay $30 or whatever it is to get in the infield if they cant bring booze. Absolutely stupid on the part of MJC IMO. Preakness infield partying is a tradition that should last forever.

This will be DEATH to attendance, less so to handle. Still a dumbass move. The Preakness ain't the Derby. If there's no booze, there's no fun.

I'm honestly shocked nobody has died in the last three or four years from the things that happen in the infield at Preakness. I would have to imagine MJC is probably thinking the same thing. If you guys had seen just how many people there were last year coming out of the infield either bloody from stray beer can grenades or otherwise incapacitated and on stretchers, you might consider eliminating unlimited alcohol in the infield as well.

You guys really think it will be that big of an impact? People will just get more bombed in the parking lot before going in. Now, if they start cracking down on the tailgating in the parking lot then all bets are off.

LOL...
10 years ago in college we were rolling kegs in on shopping carts. They're aint a chance in hell they will be able to search every cooler that the kids roll in.

Ah, the old days of rolling in with kegs seem far away now.

what ateam said. people dont tailgate at the preakness... they bring there booze in at 8 am and party all day. I dont think attendence will be cut by 75k this year. but next year if they really eliminate alcohol it will be cut by at least 50k next year. Kids didnt go there to watch horses... they go to party.
