Is there an article where Nick is quoted as saying that the colt is being pointed towards the GP Handicap or is that just a logical assumption?

I'm thrilled to see that CCM has returned a much better horse than he was last year. I always thought he was talented, but he disappointed many times. He was a late May foal, though, so maybe he just needed time.

I know you are kidding but didn't CCM have a 95 or 100 Beyer before this layoff. I see no reason to not expect a horse to improve from 3-4 years old and if he ran a 95 Beyer as a 3, improving 5-10 points isn't out of normal. It is improving 25 points that just downright ridiculous.

Does CCM still just have his first two starts around one turn until this one? Tough to know if he's improved or if he simply liked the cutback in distance until we see him again.

Thinking the most man. O'Connell isn't incompetent, at least I don't think so. Horse ran a '4' on the TG's as a 2 year old. With e 117 Beyer, he is in the Ghostzapper territory of numbers.

I like the horse a lot, but that was one of the first things I thought of when I saw the big number. He loves GP for sure.

True, but this was by far his best race at GP, although I liked his FOY. As a late May foal, maybe he's just now developing into the horse he promised he could be -it seemed like for most of last year, he didn't take any steps forward, just stayed stagnant. He has won at other tracks, so I don't think this improvement is just due to GP.

CCM ran 3rd in the Haskell..CP 2nd

That was Coal Play. Cool Coal Man ran credibly though as he finished third beaten six lengths. He was then trounced in the Travers and Jerome before being shelved.

He's now 3 for 3 at GP with wins at 9 furlongs and one at 6.5. His 3 Beyer figures in those wins are 92, 98, and 106.

I agree that he seems to like Gulfstream, but ultimately he probably was going further than he wanted most of the year. By the time he got to the Jerome he had already had a tough year and maybe he didn't like the mud.

No Steve. Bob Lapenta and Nick Zito really want to win at Finger Lakes, Thistledown, and River Downs. Plus, they hate Grade 1s, especially ones that can be worth millions in stud value, so why would they be thinking Met Mile?
