The Lions made to the playoffs with a 4-5 record in the strike year.
SD wouldn't come close this year even with their pathetic defense, but the offense was solid this year even if LT didn't play well in the stretch, plus their point differential (+92) was a positive with 7 losses by within 7 all year. Ranked 2nd in scoring.
Zona either with a 4th ranked offense, 3rd in scoring even though they ranked 28th in defensive scoring.

I would put it close to between the '89 Steelers '83 Seahawks, and '83 Broncos.

Steelers in '89 had the worst offense in the league and a pathetic defense. It amazes for me to see them win 9 games and make the playoffs, but even win a playoff game against the Oilers who they lost to twice in the season. Interesting division record. Cleveland won the division at 9-6-1 and Houston and Pittsburgh 9-7 wildcard contenders. Pittsburgh w/l differential was -61.

Seahawks in '83 had the next to worst defense in the league along with a pathetic offense. They ended up beating Denver, who closely resemble them with a second-to-worse offense and pathetic defense. What's amazing is this Seattle team beat Miami to make it to the AFC championship game against a team they beat twice that season in the Raiders.
