he was given the $$ to cover all the taxes on it, so that it would have been basically tax free... and instead of paying the IRS, he pocketed it.

just read in the paper here (it originally was from bloomberg) that he was given a pamplet regarding how to take care of these very taxes he ended up having to pay late, as well as penalties.
it also said he didn't pay a portion of what was owed until he found that he was the nominee for treasury.
