I actually thought the Jets did a nice thing for Pennington, releasing him so he could go play somewehere else. Would it have been better if they kept him and he battled it out for backup? Thed Dolphins have had a fluke season. A fluke season that ends today.

It's not that the Jets did anything wrong but in essence, what they told Pennington was the they were trying to get to a place that they didn't think he was equipped to lead them to. It was a clear slight towards him even if it was one that a lot of other people would have made. It had to be sweet for him to be the one to knock them out of the playoffs, nevermind the fact that even if the Jets had won that last game, they still wouldn't have made it. The fact that the Dolphins and Pennington assured it, while at the same time assuring themselves a playoff spot, had to make for some extra satisfaction. It's sort of the same thing with Shaq/Kobe/Lakers. The Lakers had a business decision to make and they made the right one in keeping Kobe. Shaq was too old and asking for too much money to justify keeping him and risk losing Kobe. So they did what they had to do and I can guarantee you that Shaq felt much more pleasure winning the title with Miami than he did the three combined with LA. Professional athletes have huge ego and take all slights personally, even perceived ones.

I think that you have hit on the point that some are missing. Regardless of the success that Pennington had this season, the jets felt that he was not equipped with the arm to lead them to a superbowl.

The jets should be commended for taking the chance and spending the money in the attempt to win the ultimate prize. For all of Favre's shortcomings, he was just a few snaps away from the superbowl last year and he has done it before.

I agree with a good portion of this. it was all business, but i can see how it would have come across as personal. I just want to know where all of these pennington supporters were before the season. because let me tell you, I've sat through plenty of games at the Meadowlands to know that Pennington was not this well thought of the last 3 or so years by many people.
