This story is confusing to me: if I have it right the guy was initially suspended for 4 years for possession of cobra venom, for another year for possession of carbidopa and levodopa - and those are supposed to run consecutively (not concurrently).
Then additionally he was suspended indefinitely for failing to cooperate and provide medical and computer records. Now he has cooperated through the lawyers and provided that info. So now they are going to lift the drug suspensions? What is that, a reward for finally cooperating? Are they kidding? Whoa, more: the five-year is lifted due to a technicality of inaction? "We believe a stay of the five-year suspension is in place as a matter of law,” said Watt, noting racing regulations provide that a stay become automatic if the stewards do not rule on it within 48 hours of the request. Watt said the stay would begin once Veitch signs an order lifting the suspension for failure to comply. No action was taken upon Stewart’s request for a stay in the five-year suspension because he was under suspension for the failure to comply with an order to produce records sought by the stewards."

This is America. Land of the free where laws mean nothing, or certainly punishments don't fit the crime.
There is no incentive in horse racing to be honest. The best operations are the best cheaters. No different than track and field or cycling. Just look at how America made Lance Armstrong a champion. Everyone in the cycling game knows got plenty of "assistance". |

It just says that they would likely lift the suspension that would allow him to resume practicing veterinary medicine under a stay of the original five-year suspension, which I'm assuming means nowhere near a track for 5 years, but certainly on race horses |
