Real winner is utah and boise state. I don't care who you play, if you end up undefeated you should have a chance to win it all. Thanks to the idiots who came up with this bs crap. The little guy has no chance. So gator fans shut up you lost to ole miss. The only 2 undefeated teams should meet. Winner is undefeated and champ. But it will never happen because these idiots who run this bs crap always have some excuse. Well screw the excuses its time to hammer the computer, have a tournament and give the little guy a chance. I hope missouri wins and screws up the bs some more. In the end I don't want to hear anyone claim their champ this year if they lost. If utah and boise state win their bowl games, their co champs in my book. Screw you sooner and gator fans!

If there was a playoff system then you would never see a boise st. or utah win the championship. Ever.

Whatever. Yeah the underdog never wins it all. Villanova won the basketball championship in 85. No one gave them a chance. Man can you imagine if the bcs ran the basketball tournament, they would have given it to gtown why play the game. Also nc state. But yeah you stay stuck on that. Anyone in any game can beat anyone in college football just like in basketball. Who thought duke would lose to michigan today? Thats whats great about basketball and so sad about football. Their is now 34 bowl games! That is a joke. Rewarding teams on bad seasons getting to go to a warm climate and play in a joke of a bowl game. Example is wisconsin they don't deserve to be in a bowl game. So you keep dreaming the little guy couldn't win. How do you know they aren't given the chance by these bs idiots!

Nobody said that they COULDN'T win it. But football is very different from basketball. In a one-game scenario, sure, they could pull an upset. In a playoff series, it becomes increasingly unlikely that they would get anywhere near a championship. They are much better off taking the huge money that comes from making a BCS game and running with it and possibly ending their really good seasons with bowl game wins instead of being a possible first or second round playoff casualty.

Or BYU winning the NC by winning the '84 Holiday Bowl over a 6-5 Michigan. The only way that happened is with the "Bowl System". If there is a playoff, BYU doesn't make it out of the second round.

My point about BYU was that it was a complete bull.s.hit national championship. I was not agreeing with you in any way shape or form. If a playoff system exists, BYU doesn't sniff the NC in '84. If there is a playoff this year, Utah and Boise don't stand a chance to win more than once before being bounced.

The problem tha i have with the current system is that if these teams like Utah and Boise dont have a chance to win the title then why are they in the same division? make a super division 1 with all the power conferences and have seperate playoffs or whatever. While there is no doubt they would be unlikely to be undefeated in bigger conferences what else can those teams do except win every game? Unlike the NCAA tourney in basketball, football is settled with ridiclous computer polls and opinions, rather than the results on the field. The perfect example is Texas beats OK, Texas Texh beat Texas, Ok beats Texas Tech. Who is better? Why should what you or I or anyone else thinks matter? A playoff will settle matters. It isnt about who is the "best" team or who would win the most if they played 100 times. It is about winning the game on the field. Naturally there would be some controversy about who gets in and the 9th and 10th teams will cry but there has to be a cut off somewhere. This isnt 1970 anymore where a few teams are vastly superior to everyone else and carry 125 scholarship players. Just about anyone can beat anyone on a given day and to not have a playoff system is unfair to everyone. The reasons given against the system are so ludicrious that I cant believe that they are made with a straight face. The Conferences like the Pac 10 and Big 10 that hold it up should simply be excluded from a system until they drop thier opposition. If the SEC, Big 12, ACC, Big East, Wac, Mountain west, Conference USA and MAC all joined together to have a seperate playoff system the Big 10 and Pac 10 would be screwed and have to join in. I still dont see why the "bowls" have so much power over college football when they arent even part of the NCAA or any of the schools.

It's because of the BCS system that a school like Utah or Boise St. is even in the conversation and under consideration for a top bowl. Who you play absolutely has to matter. I guess you probably thought up until yesterday that Ball St. deserved to be in the mix too? What would you have said if they too had ended up undefeated?
