I liked how TVG had the last race listed as dirt and didn't announce it was on the turf until the horses were on the turf.

I called them demanding a refund on my pick 3. We'll see how it goes.

Training report, Hanshin...

TIN CUP CHALICE (USA, g3, bay)

- hand-walked only

"Since we had him do some fast work yesterday, we’re not planning on doing any more fast or strong work this week. The course here is a bit sandy and much deeper than at home, but the horse seems to like it. We feel honored to be invited by the JRA to race in the Japan Cup Dirt. He’s still young and this will be a big test for him, but we hope that this will be a big step up for him. We intend to just hand-walk him tomorrow, like today."

TIN CUP CHALICE (USA, g3, bay)

- walked around stables 15 min.'s & hand-walked 20 min.'s

"We only walked him around the stable today but he seems to be in good condition. We will bring his condition up towards the race. The trainer will be here tomorrow and we plan to do a light jog tomorrow morning. We still don’t have any plans of doing any strong work before the race."

"He's in good condition and his run down looks good too. It's been a week since we arrived and he's getting accustomed to the atmosphere. His wound is heeling well too. Edgar Prado will be riding him at the race, but we don't know if he'll be riding the horse before that. We'll probably do much the same exercise tomorrow as we did today, but we may gallop a little."

FROST GIANT (USA, h5, chestnut)

- walked 1 lap on dirt course, ridden by R. Rodriguez from 7:45 to 8:05

"He was looking around a lot, being in a new environment, but he'll get used to it in time. The dirt course is quite different from back home, sandier, but the horse didn't seem to mind. We'll do a bit stronger work with him tomorrow, but no fast work until the day of the race (unless the trainer says otherwise). The jockey will be arriving today, but he won't be riding the horse before the race."

“I’ve never teamed up with this horse, but I’ve raced against him 2 or 3 times and have the impression that he’s a very strong horse. He was very relaxed this morning during his exercise, the dirt feels good, and he seems to have recovered from the long trip. After seeing the final list of the field, I’ll consider what kind of pace I’ll race him.”

“The training went well, and he’s coming into his race very well. He looks good and I think he’s gained 4 to 5 kg’s since he’s left the quarantine station. Since we found out he was going to race on a right-handed course, we breezed the horse a few times in that direction at home, and every work has been better. (Regarding the barrier draw) I prefer stall number 4 because his style of racing is in the front, so he should be able to get a good position. Tomorrow he’ll jog and gallop and stand in the gate -just to get him to relax in the gate. Saturday he’ll have a very light and easy day of training”

”He was more aggressive at the quarantine stables, but he’s getting used to the environment here and looks comfortable, happy and relaxed. I liked the way he sat today, he looked good. (Regarding the right-handed course) we just have to get used to the system –how they run over here. But I think the horse is used to it because he raced in England before he was brought to the U.S. The surface is much different – more sandier, but I hope the horse likes it on the day he runs. I don’t see any problems. Itwould be nice if it (the barrier draw) were in the middle. We’ll probably gallop him 1-1/2 miles tomorrow, and after that it will depend on what the trainer says.”

MAST TRACK (USA, h4, bay)

- jogged 1 lap on dirt course, schooled paddock and saddling area,

ridden by J. Cuevas from 7:53 to 8:00

”He did some speed work yesterday, so he just jogged a lap today. He moved very good and smooth – and his conformation is the same as he was back home. He’ll gallop tomorrow and we’ll see how he handles the right-handed track and the surface. We would like (the barrier to be) somewhere between 4 to 6 because he races up front. We’re planning on a gallop tomorrow and on Saturday, and then maybe do a blowout on the day of the race.”
